I came across the story of Shy Keenan and was left with a feeling of disgust, disappointment and anger, especially towards a system that could fail children to that degree.
Shy wrote a book about her life called Broken:

We have to live with the lie that "it only happens to girls, unless you are queer or something ..."
I was forcibly raped 60 years ago when I was 4 years old. The 14 year old girl who was looking after me was also raped as I watched.
That hurts worse than what happened to me!
